Spend weekends at Point Defiance Park, one of the largest urban parks in the country, with trails, beaches, gardens, and the zoo & aquarium. Shop, dine, or catch a movie at Point Ruston along the Commencement Bay waterfront, then explore the boutiques and weekend farmers market of the Proctor District just up the hill. SR-16 puts the Narrows Bridge, Gig Harbor, and the Peninsula within easy reach, and downtown Tacoma is about ten minutes out; JBLM about twenty.
